Free Dress Day
The Social Justice committee has planned a free dress day for this Friday 17 June 2022. A gold coin donation is requested with all money raised supporting Srang, our Sister School in Cambodia.
Proud moment!
Last week I went to the WA Museum Boola Bardip with the Year 6 classes. I watched our students learn about how the changes to the urban environment have impacted on local wildlife. Everyone found out about ‘lizard lounges’ and ‘bee hotels’, the advantage of a female wren being brown (as opposed to the male’s beautiful blue) and the benefits of keeping large trees for native birds and insects to have a place to shelter and gather food.
From the quality of the questions asked by students, the level of student vocabulary during discussions, to the way in which everyone worked as a group, and the exemplary student behaviour made me one very proud principal. My level of pride was so high I called Mum and Dad to tell them how fantastic the day was. Behind great students are years of quality teaching and support so thank you to the staff for their contributions, both big and small.
It was a fantastic day to leave the office and spend some extended time with the children and staff.
Kindy Playground Refurbishment – It’s coming!
The commencement of works to refurbish the Kindy playground will start Friday 17 June 2022. Unfortunately, to allow for this, the Kindy gate cannot be used and parking in this area will not be permitted. We are hoping that after the COVID-related and materials shortage delay, we will see the project completed in time for Term 3 (weather permitting). Access through gates 6 or 11.
Please see the attached map for details on gate access and parking areas.
During the last two weeks of this term, students will have access to the junior playground on the other side of E Block.
Winter Lightning Carnival
On Friday 24 June some of the children from Years 4,5 and 6 will be representing the school at the Winter Lightning Carnival. Good luck to the teams who are playing netball, AFL, soccer, or league tag (rugby) against Connolly and Currambine primary schools.
Safety reminders
Please make sure you park in designated areas only as you risk being fined by the City of Joondalup, children may be injured and the local residents need to be able to go about their business without family cars blocking access.
When on school grounds please keep your dog on a lead and close beside you.
