Joondalup Festival 2019
On Saturday, the 6th April selected Joondalup Primary School students from years 2, 4, 5 and 6 took part in the 2019 Joondalup Festival Lantern Parade. Mrs Phillips’ students carried planet lanterns that were made during the Science program. They wore Balinese hats called “udeng” and North Sumatran sashay scarfs called “udeng”. Mrs Phillips marshaled the Joondalup Primary School students in the parade.
Ibu Mulyana’s students played Indonesian bamboo musical instruments called “angklung”. They played “I still call Australia home” with the angklungs. The students wore Javanese bird dancing costumes.
The audience hugely applauded the Joondalup students as they passed by.
A big thank you to Mrs Jan East who helped us before the parade. We would like also to thank Mr Robert Lee who helped the group in the parade and helped Ibu Mulyana after the parade.
Thank you to all the parents and caregivers who watched the parade.
Well done students.
