Dear families
Our canteen is open every day!
We would like to extend a warm welcome to our new canteen manager Amy Daniels. If you haven’t looked at the menu lately, check it out! There are some delicious items on the menu, and feedback from students and staff is that the food is delicious.
P&C Mother’s Day Stall
Thank you to our P&C Association for organising last week’s Mother’s Day stall. It was a huge success with all gifts being snapped up early. I hope that everyone celebrating Mother’s Day enjoyed their gifts and had a wonderful day last Sunday.
National Reconciliation Week 27th May – 3rd June 2021
Assembly update
Our next assembly is on Tuesday 25th May 2021, commencing at 2.10pm. Rehearsals have been very quiet but Mrs Knobbe assures me that the children are doing an amazing job of putting the assembly together by themselves.
Cross Country
Next Friday 21st May 2021, selected students will represent Joondalup Schools at the Interschool Cross Country. There are 16 schools competing which means it will be a huge event. Congratulations to those students who have qualified for the team. Thank you to Mrs Egan and Mr Lee who have been training the children during lunch times and at Running Club.
Staff news
From Monday 24th May 2021 I will be on long service leave. My first day back at school is Monday 19th July 2021 which is the first day of Term 3. Miss Tammy Hanrahan will be the Principal and Mrs Stacey Young will be the Associate Principal during this time.
Safety around the School
There are a number of key concerns where adult behaviour is impacting on the safety of our students and other adults.
- Follow the parking rules around the school. It is not safe to stop in the middle of a road or double park along Jolstra Crescent. Please observe the parking rules at all times.
- The carpark at the front of the school is for STAFF and SCHOOL BUSES It is not a thoroughfare or overflow parking for parents. Please do not park in this carpark.
- Currently we do not have traffic wardens at each of the key road crossings so children may need to cross the road without an adult. Remember to drive at 40 km/h between 7.30am-9.00am and 2.30pm-4.00pm. Remember that children are unpredictable and can’t judge the speed of the traffic.
NAPLAN
This week the Year 3 and 5 students have completed NAPLAN, the annual assessment in literacy and numeracy. Thank you to the staff who have invested a lot of time and effort in getting everything prepped for this online testing. A very special thank you to Mrs Perry who has overseen the planning and organisation and to Miss Farina whose technical skills that have come in very handy in getting our systems up and running in a timely manner.
Garden of Weedin’
Over the coming weeks our Garden of Weedin’ will be having a makeover to include a space to support our sustainability projects, and to give more space to our trees which are growing too large for where they are now. Watch this space!
School Board Training
Earlier this week a number of School Board members participated in training with some of our neighbouring schools. At the training we were reminded of our responsibilities to the school through our governance process. Thank you to the Board members who were able to attend.
School Development Day
Monday 19th July 2021 is a School Development Day (student free day). This is the first day of Term 3.
Connect
Connect is our School’s preferred method of communication between parents and teachers. Please make it a habit to see what your child’s teacher is posting about your child’s class, as you may miss important information.
As the school furthers its use of Connect as a communication platform, it is very important that families know how to access posts. Attached is a quick guide for parents to use as reference if you are unsure how to use the site.
Contact the school if you can’t remember your P number and password as we are happy to help.
