Art with Mrs Sweet

Helen Sweet.jpg

Houses

The year one students worked the elements of shape, texture and colour to create houses. The rolled out a slab of clay and folded it to create the shape with the triangular roof. A variety of items were used to add texture, creating the door and windows. After the greenware was fired the students used primary colours to glaze their work.

Frog Kweeyar/Kooyar/Kwooyar

Form was the element of art that was the focus when creating these frog sculptures. The year four students worked with clay. Two pinch pots were created and joined together to make the frogs body, then legs and eyes were added.  The glazes selected add interest to the sculptures.

Paper Collage.

The students in room 31 viewed the artwork of Henri Matisse. Matisse was unable to paint towards the end of his life, but discovered he was still able to create artworks with some assistance. This work has been called drawing with scissors. The students enjoyed using bright coloured paper to draw with scissors.

Monsters

These monsters were created last year. The students who created them were given the opportunity to finish them. A variety of speckled glazes were used.
