Principal's News
Dear families
Congratulations to Mrs Phillips
Congratulations to Mrs Nerelle Phillips, our Science teacher, who was selected as one of three winners for Western
Australia in the ‘Deep Blue’ competition for National Science Week. It is a wonderful achievement and reflects her own love for science, and importantly, her love for developing great scientific learning in our children.
School Board
Earlier this week we held our final School Board meeting for the year. The meeting was a time to provide the last update about school business and to acknowledge the contribution the Board has made to the school. I would like to specifically thank Deb Childs, one of our community representatives, and Liz Omaidi, a parent representative, for their work. I am grateful for the part they have played in school governance.
In 2021 there will be a number of vacant positions on the School Board and I would encourage you to consider how you might like to be involved. With the school’s business plan coming to an end in December 2021, next year is an ideal time to take part in the discussions that will inform our new plan. Please give me a call on 9233 5800 or drop in for a conversation about the Board if you would like information about the Board’s roles and responsibilities and what you might expect as a Board member.
Book Fair
Thank you to everyone who supported last week’s Book Fair. The children left the library having purchased an assortment of stationery, posters and books. A very special thank you to Mrs Rhian Rees, our library officer, who arranged the Book Fair for the school. Thank you also Mrs Mel Hunt, Mrs Sue Egan, Ms Karen Tucker, and Ms Nicola Fletcher who helped with keeping the Fair open by being available to take payment. Book Fairs are an important way for the school to build the number of resources available to staff and students.
Upcoming events and what you need to do
There are lots of upcoming events that may need you to do something. Thank you to everyone who has managed to keep on top of family administration.

COVID-19 – a reminder
Please remember that we need to continue to do our part to keep ourselves and the community healthy.
Posters recently made available to schools included the following key messages:
- Cover coughs and sneezes with their arm or tissues.
- Put used tissues into the bin and wash their hands.
- Wash your hands with soap and water.
- Try not to touch your mouth or face.
- Don’t hold hands with others.
If your children are sick or don’t feel well, please keep them at home.
P&C Association
The final meeting for 2020 will be on Wednesday 25 November at 7.00pm in the staffroom.
Importantly a number of people are stepping away from their roles on the P&C Association Executive. I would like to thank Lina Chua for being our treasurer and Rachel Chambers, our fundraising coordinator. Both of these position require a lot of work and expertise. The P&C Association and school have benefited significantly because Lina has been diligent in the management of money.
Rachel has been the driving force behind Father’s Day and Mother’s Day stalls and Colour Runs and all of the other fundraisers in between. Rachel has been ably assisted by others, but it has been her willingness to put in a lot of effort that has seen our students and school community reap the rewards.
