Faction Athletics
Next week is Faction Athletics week. The key dates are:
- Monday 16th March Long Jump
- Tuesday 17thMarch Throws
- Wednesday 18thMarch Tug of War
- Friday 20thMarch Faction Carnival
Here is what you need to know:
- Children need to wear their faction t-shirt, school shorts and a wide-brimmed hat.
- The carnival is being held at the school.
- Children can do their running race in bare feet but they must have sneakers or runners for team games, throws and tug of war.
- Children need to bring morning tea, lunch and a filled water bottle. There is no set time for morning tea as teachers will decide when it is the best time to have a snack. If children want to order their lunch from the canteen they can do so. Lunches will be kept in school bags at the classrooms. Morning tea and water bottles will be carried with the children during the day so make these items in a small disposal bag.
- Put your child’s name on everything. Some things will get lost and it is good to return them to the right people.
- Children will be able to get their hair sprayed on the day of the carnival. The cost will be $1.00. All money raised goes to our sister school Srang Primary School in Cambodia. Please do not send any coloured spray from home.
- Parents and visitors are not allowed in the bays with children and all children will be supervised by school staff. There are designated spaces for parents to sit so that you can watch your children compete. Children will be able to have lunch with their parents.
- If the carnival finishes just prior to 3.00pm, everyone will return to their classrooms. Your child’s teacher will be able to sign your children out from the classroom and you do not need to come to the office. If you have more than one child, you need to go to each classroom. Parents can only take home their children. If you have to take your children out of school before the carnival finishes for any reason, you need to sign them out at the announcer’s desk by the podium.
- The results of the running races are being recorded via an app as a back up to what the judges select as place getters. Their decision is final.
- The school has Ventolin, epi-pens and other medication for those who have medical conditions. If your child has an updated medical condition and we do not have this information, please come to the office and let us know. It is vital that we have what your child needs so that we can respond appropriately.
