STEM News from Rooms 8, 12 and 13
As a part of STEM outcomes Rooms 12, 13 and 8 made shoes out of recycled objects such as cardboard, foam, sandpaper, duct tape and other materials. Some problems that we had were – the hot glue did not stick – the duct tape kept folding and we had to throw it out – and we needed more time to make our shoes. Earlier in the term we made templates of our feet to make things easier. In Term Three we watched a video on refugee’s shoes and what they looked like, to give us an idea on what we were making. The shoes had to withstand walking across the oval, through sand, over an obstacle course and get wet. Making shoes was very challenging for Years 4’s and 5’s but we learnt a lot.
