Staffing News

The JPS Principal position was not filled through the merit selection process and the North Metro’ Regional Education Office will conduct a new process next term as a priority. I have agreed to continue as Acting Principal until such time as the permanent position is filled.

  • Mrs Young will continue in the Acting Associate Principal role and Mrs Cobble-Dick will continue teaching the Year 2/3 students in Room 20.
  • Mr Easther will be teaching full time in Year 6, Room 11 until the end of the year.
  • Mrs Mason will continue her role on Friday until the end of the year in Year 4/5, Room 13.
  • Miss Chaplain Amanda will be on campus every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday in Term Three.

New Online Permission Forms- Term Three

The Department of Education has recently reviewed the Online Policies for students. As part of this process children and/or their parents/care givers need to complete an Online Services Acceptable Use Agreement. There is a form for students in Kindergarten to Year Two which sets out the rules for students using online environments and a different form for students in Year Three to Six. The forms create an opportunity for parents to reinforce the behaviours that ensure children are safe online. Forms will be sent home with the children next term.

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data

The NCCD (Nationally Consistent Collection of Data) is an annual collection of information about Australian school students with disability. The NCCD enables schools, education authorities and governments to better understand the needs of students with disability and how they can be best supported at school. Please see the attached letter for additional information on the NCCD and where to find further information.

Holiday Works

We have 10 new split system air conditioning units being installed over the holidays. This means all of our classrooms will now have a split system air conditioner in place. The existing units will also be serviced over the holidays.

Winter Carnival

Students from Years 4-6 enjoyed participating in the Lightning Carnival at the Arena on Thursday 20th June. Thank you to staff and parents for supporting the netball, soccer and football teams. I was very proud to hear staff feedback on the positive behaviour of our students who represented Joondalup. What a fabulous group of students!

Mathletics Renewal

Good news, we have renewed our Mathletics subscription for another three years! This Mathematics program is a fantastic way to improve your child’s Mathematics progress, while they enjoy the use of the computer and competing against other children from around the world. If you don’t have your child’s log in details, please see your child’s classroom teacher. The Mathletics password also allows the children to access the on-line program Rainforest Maths at www.rainforestmaths.com

Piza.jpg

Pizza

Congratulations to the students who had their names drawn out for Pizza with Staff, they are wonderful Joondalup Students. The students are exemplary role models following the school’s code of conduct, for being safe, responsible and respectful. They enjoyed pizza with their nominating teacher and/or education assistant. It is great to see so many students being pro-active and progressive role models to their peers.

P&C

P_C.jpg

Our Parents & Citizens aim is to support the school to provide a standard of education and facilities to your children that would otherwise not be available if we were to rely solely on Government funding. P&C meetings are held on a monthly basis throughout the year for a maximum duration of 90 minutes and are advertised at least seven days in advance. Newcomers are welcome. In the past the P&C have provided much needed funds to the school which has enabled us to purchase end of year book awards, essential education resources and subsidise the Year 6 camp & much more.  They have recently approved the following requests from staff, installation of an outdoor sink in the garden club area value of $650,  greenhouse and work bench for after school garden club (contribution of $1000 towards the total amount), new worm farm value of $850 and two play kitchens value of $600. Thank you for all of your support, you are all fabulous individuals and as a team, you are sensational.

Have a fantastic holiday with you children.

Term 3 will commence on Monday 22nd July.
