Mrs Young has a CATASTROPHIC PROBLEM!
Being a scientist means that you are able to hypothesise and problem solve when it comes to real world problems. The scientists in Year 2 and Year 2/3 were confronted with a very large dilemma when Mrs Young found she had a catastrophic problem with her coffee…it went COLD too quickly!
This was the perfect opportunity for our Year 2 and Year 2/3 scientist to help Mrs Young solve her coffee catastrophe. As a class, they predicted the possible reasons for Mrs Young’s coffee going cold and then decided that they would set up the following scientific investigation to test their hypotheses’.

As a result of the investigation, the students identified from their results that a plastic cup would keep Mrs Young’s coffee hotter for longer than a metal, ceramic or paper cup would…let’s just say that the results were very surprising!
