From the Music Room
Music Composition with Garageband
In today's digital age, the role of the contemporary musician is rapidly evolving. Many artists now have access to home studios and can record, compose, and produce their own music using advanced digital software such as Ableton, Garageband, and Pro Tools. This shift has been recognised by leading institutions like WAAPA, which have recently added Composition & Music Technology to their music education disciplines.
Our middle and upper primary students are experiencing this modern approach firsthand through their use of Garageband. This engaging software allows them to experiment with live loops and create their own unique musical arrangements. By exploring and arranging loops in various musical genres and styles, students gain a deeper understanding of how different elements of music come together to define a particular style or genre.

NAIDOC picnic Choir Performance
Our choir recently performed at the NAIDOC Week picnic celebration, showcasing the song "Warrior." The piece was a tribute to Yagan, a prominent Noongar leader known for his role in defending his people’s rights and cultural heritage in the early 19th century. The choir did a fantastic job, and the students’ efforts were commendable, reflecting their dedication and hard work.
