School Development Day Friday 31st May

All staff will be participating in a whole day professional development on Friendly Schools.  Friendly Schools is the first anti-bullying initiative for schools developed through extensive research with Australian children and adolescents. It is recognised nationally and internationally as a comprehensive, evidence-based approach that can reduce bullying behaviour. The Friendly Schools initiative has been designed to align with both the Australian Curriculum and the National Safe Schools Framework.

Good Standing Policy

A copy of the school’s Good Standing Policy is attached to this Newsletter. This policy, which is a requirement of the Minister of Education’s Violence in Schools strategy, is mandatory for all schools. The policy will apply to students in Years Three through to Six. Children who lose Good Standing will be unable to participate in various school events, though children will have three opportunities to adjust their behaviour prior to losing good standing. This policy will come into effect from the commencement of Week Five of Term Two. The Minister of Education’s strategy will also see suspension used more often as a consequence of intention of violence towards students and staff, however, as is always the case our staff will be keen to work with students and families to ensure we support students to make safe and appropriate choices.

P&C News.jpg

P&C

Our P&C have run a number of events throughout the semester – the latest being at last weekend’s election. They have raised a huge amount of money over the last few events - $835 from the Easter raffle, $3085.52 from the colour run, and $583.85 from the Mother’s Day stall. This is fantastic and could not have been done without the support of all families, thank you! The P&C have asked us for a “wishlist” of items to improve the school. We have given this to the P&C and they will make decisions about what they feel would be most beneficial to our campus and will donate this to the school.

Red Faction Sausage Sizzle

On Monday 27th May, students in the Red Faction will be having a sausage sizzle at lunch time. The sausage sizzle is free, so students in Red Faction do not need to bring lunch in on Monday. The sausage sizzle is the prize the faction wins for having the most faction points in Term One this year.

The Faction Cross Country

The Faction Cross Country Carnival is on 30th May at Windemere Oval. Please see attached for the race schedule. Runners from Year 3 to 6 will be selected from the carnival to represent the school in the interschool carnival in Term 3.

Woolworths Earn and Learn

The campus have again registered for the Woolworths Earn and Learn program. Between 1 May and 25 June 2019 please collect as many stickers as you can. (For every $10 spent at Woolworths you get a sticker.) The more stickers we receive the more resources we will be able to purchase. Please make sure your stickers have been placed on a sticker sheet (available from the office) and then place the sticker sheet inside of the box which is located outside of the administration building. Thank you for supporting our schools.
