Dear families
School Colour Run
Last Thursday afternoon the students and staff participated in the annual P&C Association Colour Run and it was great! It was a perfect hour of music, colour, children, staff, parents and volunteers. I would like to acknowledge the work of Rachel Chambers who lead the event and did much of the preparation and coordination. Thank you to everyone who raised money for the P&C. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. From the online fundraising leader board, the top three classes were:
1st Year 2/3 Room 26
2nd Year 1 Room 30
3rd Pre-Primary-Year 1 Room 28
Swimming lessons
We are in our last week of swimming lessons. Congratulations to all of the children who has passed their swimming level. So many children did an amazing job of improving their swimming skills. Thank you to Mrs Perry and staff for their organisation and to families for making sure that children came to school ready for lessons.
School Development Day
Last Friday’s School Development Day was an opportunity for the teachers to participate in further professional learning in Talk for Writing, our key writing strategy in all classes. The teachers reviewed ‘short burst’ writing which is part of the classroom program. Short burst allows children to demonstrate how they use the key skills that are being taught in a very short piece of writing.
In the afternoon everyone worked on our Positive Behaviour in Schools (PBS) strategy. The staff have brainstormed what they believe the school’s key positive behaviours could be. The discussion started with everyone identifying behaviours that they do not like (not being listened to, running on the path, swearing, excluding people from games, no manners) and we grouped them into common ideas. Looking at these groups, we identified key positive behaviours that we wanted to see that could replace those things. At the moment we have approximately 16 behaviours but these will be refined into three to five key areas. Some of those 16 are kindness, respect, excellence, and personal safety. PBS is a framework for the school to use to look at how we promote and recognise positive behaviours and respond to those do not match the expectations. Watch this space!
No hat, no play in the sun

Ceramics
These great little pinch pots were created by the students in Rooms 18,19, 20, 30 and 31. They worked with the technique of pinching the clay up to make a small pot. Some students added a clay coil on the top, others the first letter of their name, some added flowers and some made a face. A variety of glazes were used to add colour.
Robot Collage
The students in Rooms 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 selected materials from a wide range of old computer parts and junk material to create robots.
