Dear families
Book Week
What a wonderful week of stories, activities and dressing up. I think that this year’s dress up efforts were some of the best. Take a look at photos of the parade held on our oval in this week's newsletter.

Thank you to Mr Lee for all the work he put into the carnival to make sure that everyone had a wonderful day.
Thank you to the staff for providing advice, being flexible with classes, helping with weekly training sessions, setting up and packing away equipment, and giving lots of encouragement throughout the day. A special thank you to the office staff for their work at the carnival.
Thank you to Mr Tan, our gardener, for marking the oval for the day and helping with the preparation.
Thank you to Nicole and the canteen team for managing the day’s catering. Thank you also the many people who volunteered on the day.
Thank you to the families who were able to come and support their children and factions.
Finally, and most importantly, thank you to the children who participated fairly, cheered loudly, and entered the excitement of the carnival. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Don't forget to look at all of the photos from the day in this newsletter.
Father’s Day Stall
Thank you to the P&C Association for our wonderful Father’s Day stall. As expected, nearly everything sold out.
Disco – Save the date
The P&C Association have set the date for the disco – Friday 28 October 2022. There will be K – Year 2 and Year 3-6 sessions with a Sensory Session in between. Information about the disco will be sent home soon.
The P&C works tirelessly for students, be it through events, such as the upcoming disco and Colour Run, and generous donations. The commitment of the volunteers has meant students have new equipment, a five-day a week canteen, raffles, stalls, and Camp funding. If you can attend a meeting or volunteer, you are very welcome. Every hand makes light work!
Education Assistants Appreciation Week
Last week we recognised the work of education assistants with chocolates. Our education assistants play a significant role in the education of students across all classes. They are the listeners, encouragers, supporters, wise counsellors, and educators who make a difference every day. Thank you for the vital work you do with your students and colleagues.
Assembly news
The Year 5 classes are presenting the next assembly on Tuesday 20 September at 2.15pm.
Year 6 Camp Reminder

Student Account of Book Week 2022
Last week was Book Week. We had a parade on the oval near the office. We watched the people show their costumes and there were lots of different ones like dinosaurs, Spiderman, Yoda, Alice in Wonderland and Harry Potter.
Mr Tuly dressed up as a pink crayon and our teacher dressed up as a cowgirl with Mrs Christie dressed as a cow. One of the Year 4 girls even dressed up as an elf.
In our class, we wrote about our favourite books and had to write who the author was and drew a picure of the book's front cover.
We really liked dressing up and listening to the music as we walked around the oval

Abstract
The students in Room 19 worked with symmetry to create an abstract artwork whilst the students in Room 4 worked with the principles of design pattern and repetition. The patterns were drawn in wax crayon and a dye wash painted over the top.
Stained Glass Windows
The theme for Science Week this year was glass. The students in rooms 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 worked with symmetry to create window frames and filled the shapes with coloured cellophane.
