I am excited to share the latest happenings from the visual arts room! Our students have been immersed in a world of creativity, exploring various mediums such as clay, paint, and chalk pastels. The Year 6 and Year 3 students have been hard at work moulding gnomes and bunnies with clay, improving their skills in scoring and slip techniques. We eagerly anticipate their creations' unveiling after they have been fired in the kiln and given a clear gloss varnish.
Meanwhile, our Year 4 students have delved into Picasso's captivating world, drawing inspiration from his iconic piece "A Blue Vase, 1903" from his Blue Period to create their own unique versions. Their creations truly showcase their creativity and understanding of art history.
Additionally, our Year 5 students have been exploring the mesmerising artwork of 19th-century Japanese master printmaker Hokusai. They have particularly focused on "The Great Wave", with its striking imagery of claw-like hands reaching towards brave fishermen. The students have put their own spin on this masterpiece, outlining their drawings with oil pastels and using watercolour paint to bring their interpretations to life.
I am thrilled to witness our students' artistic talents flourishing, and I cannot wait to share more of their remarkable creations with you soon. Stay tuned for more exciting updates from our visual arts room!
